I'm looking to see what others have done with adding more rod holders in the gunwales. I have the standard 2x 30 degree at the stern corners, and 2x 15 degree about amid ship. These seem to be OK for trolling. I only use 1 rod per side on my outriggers. I'm looking to get a 0 degree somewhere on the gunwales for my tancom. The area that has the gunwale insert does not seem like it has ant real strength. I would also like to put a 0 degree dead center with a swivel in the rear for fighting wahoo on a bent butt. I'm just not sure there is enough "meat" in the fiberglass to allow it. Then I have 2x 0 degree and 2x 15 degree at the stern along the splash well. These are good for just storing. I do have another 6 along the rear of the T-Top. Also good for storage and keeps them out of the way. But I do have some friends that like to bring an entire tackle store with them when they come aboard.... I'm thinking of adding a bolt-on rod holder bar in the splash well. Another idea is adding some more rod holders along the front edge of the T-Top. It might look a bit dorky, but it will get the job done.

Were they in the gunwale on the transom? I already have 4 there, I was thinking of sticking some in between, but not sure there is enough glass there to maintain strength and they would be awfully close together.

Yes in the transom gunwale. I also used backing plates from Gemlux. That is a pretty solid area, at least on my boat.

I would also like to add at least one more rod holder in the gunwale per side on my 2006 2660CC. But I am hesitant as I don't think that it has any strength. Mine is an insert that is screwed in and then sealed along the joint with the deck. I have added rod holders for storage mainly. Two 30 degree in the bow, next to the anchor locker, two bolt on rod holders on the bow rail, and four on the seat back on the leaning post.

I like your center station! I have the livewell / Sink combo. I don't have a backrest, but I have a hand rail and I have been thinking of adding some rod holders there, just to keep the gafs in.
Of I can figure out how to get my big gorilla claws in there, I've been thinking of putting a 0 degree just aft of the rear rod holders.

Never enough rod holders. The 245DC has 10 (4 hardtop, 4 on gunwale and 2 by the ski pole). I'll be adding 2 to the forward hardtop supports. Got to have at least 2 forward for when I have someone fishing in the front, or to store rods not in use. Still trying to figure out where I could add a couple more aft, but haven't found the right spot yet.

I haven't had any problem mounting holders in the "insert" section... and I do a lot of deep-dropping with a TB1000 and a MP3000. I rarely use the factory rod holders for trolling. I'll run my flat lines through release clips on the stern corners, with the rods in the holders just ahead of the cup holders. (see photo) I put my outrigger rods in the leaning post holders. This allows the outrigger lines to pass above the gunnel rods' tips when tripped. Also keeps 'em in-reach from the helm. Shotgun rod is usually in the leaning post, or I'll feed it through a custom center rigger in a t-top holder.

Added the two hardtop support rod holders. Plan to use them tomorrow either while spadefish fishing, or for storage if we go out a bit further for mahi. Still considering something aft at least to hold a net or gaff.

Not sure I would have clamped to a powder coated surface. Break into it at all and you may get a peeling problem. Fingers crossed for you! Not familiar enough with a DC to make any better suggestions.

I put 1/4 inch dense foam on the clamps before attaching them. I agree it could be a problem as my experience with powder coating is not good on any of the boats I've owned with powder coating. If the option was available I'd always choose stainless over powder coating, but it is rarely offered. My Robalo had some powder coated steel and within 2 years it was cracking. My Albemarle had a powder coated windshield frame and it started flaking in large chunks about 4 years into it's use. Stuff just isn't good in a salt water environment. Hoping the Sailfish holds up better.

I was worried about that section of gunwale having enough back-bone to support a serious rod holder. I'd like a 0 degree dead center in the transom for a center rigger.

That's basically what I did but I used a old Aftco short bent butt and made an adapter for it

I added 4 rod holders in the coaming board cover Added 2 in the bow seating area for storage/clearing Added mate series holders in the bow. Here is a link to the thread on the old forum with some more details on the gunnel rod holders (http://www.sailfishforums.com/forums/showthread.php?13176-Recent-Projects-03-236&p=86380&viewfull=1#post86380). I think theirs some info in that thread also about the other rod holders as well.
