Following that Port Canaveral boating rescue.
If our boats get swamped do they just sink to the waterline or go to the bottom.

I haven’t tried yet, but from what I’m told, they will not sink.

I think if the hull is not severally breached that if swamped they would turtle and air trapped in the hull and what little bit of foam in the stringers would keep it afloat.

I believe that I read this at one point when I purchased my CC. If they turn turtle a boat will float long as there is more air, foam, anything that will float then there is metal basically. Inc the aluminum gas tank as there is air in it and gas cans that weighs less than water per gallon. Rag’s

Rags I suspect the fuel tank will quickly be overcome with water via the vent if the boat turtles. Granted I do still think even of that does occur there will still be air trapped in the tank also helping with buoyancy.

My PLB is my ditch bag with the rest of my safety gear.
I do plan to buy a separate EPIRB to mount on the boat that will auto deploy.

Mine is mounted to the starboard side of the console right under the horizontal pipe. I felt this was both easy and quick to grab in an emergency but basically out of the way. Also everyone that gets on board knows were it is and Johny-Law can see it from a distance, and I believe that and the bright orange life jackets poking out of the T-Top holder helps to keep me from being harassed. So where do you guys have the EPIRB mounted ? Always at an arm's reach. Usually right next to the throttles

I saw a Sailfish with a single engine in about 50 feet of water off Marathon in 2015 while spear fishing. Not sure of the exact model or the circumstances how it got there, but it was sitting upright on the bottom. At that time it looked like it had been sitting there for a few months due to the amount of growth on it.
