I am getting a new 245 DC - will not have it till the spring. I plan on fishing at least out to the mud hole, 15-20 miles out of Sandy Hook, NJ.
I also plan on starting around april 1st so the water is a bit chilly yet.
Given the limited storage space in the 245DC any suggestions/recommendations?
Just trying to get my stiff in line before the spring so I am ready to go.....

I'd wait till BOE Marine runs their annual life raft sale.

If I were running way off the coast of NE I'd get one with an insulated floor.
I think finatic has the same one I do, he runs out of CT

I was just looking at the sea safe coastal - looks like it has a insulated floor and the valise seems smaller (e.g. 14" round x 26" long)....
Anyone with any experience with Sea Safe?

I went with a Switlik CPR life raft in a valise. I keep it in the console pretty much all the time.
Would you consider mounting a canister raft on the hardtop?

The 6 man Switlik CPR - $4,400 - Ouch...... But I guess if you use it - you won't care about the $$

I want to look at my paperwork and see what I paid, I hope it wasn’t that much. I do remember it was a premium over the others but it packed down smaller and was lighter. I think it also has a longer life between services.

gilm, don't order anything until you figure where it can fit and the weight you want to handle. I'm now interested in the Sea Safe as I think (and hope) it will fit in the center storage and it's lighter weight will make it easier to handle. All the others I've looked at would not fit in the center storage. I could fit most of then in front of the console, but I've already got stuff there and adding the valise would create an access problem.
There is never enough space for storage on a boat and my 245DC was filled pretty fast. I still have the forward storage under the bow seats, but they are not large enough for a valise and I use them for extra ice when offshore fishing. The center storage has my gaff, paddle/boat hook combo, and 3 fairly large tackle boxes. If I get the valise, I'll have to figure out a way to redo the boxes and carry tackle to the boat occasionally for specialized fishing.

I keep measuring things, but only when I'm looking to see if something will fit and I haven't keep a list of the measurements. I'll try to remember to measure when I get back to the boat (waves today are 11 foot at Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel and 18 foot offshore). This time of year I used to get out a lot for striper, but not worth going this year for sure.
