Another paint quote $4k /$153 per foot. For that I might consider it. If you move forward would you go with the same color, or not. So Awlcraft makes a color called Stars and Stripes blue which is almost identical in color. I also like their Bahama blue. To answer your question, I dont know! Lol

The Stars and Stripes blue is what I have looked at also. I have kicked the idea around a little myself. I have a good friend with a body shop that is a top notch painter that has done a few boats that will do it for cheap.

Why would you choose a dark color again only to have the same issue some years down the road.

From my understanding, the algrip won’t fade like the gelcoat sailfish used. I would think it would be hard to cover the dark color with a light color and not have it bleed through.

Why would you choose a dark color again only to have the same issue some years down the road. The problem is with gelcoat not paint. Ever see a faded Hinkley? Those hulls are painted with Awlgrip and those owners just let them sit on their lifts behind their houses for years.

The hull will be primed regardless so bleed through is a non issue. I got another quote today from a local boat builder, Compsite Yachts. $125 per foot or $3250. If I want a boot stripe that's $1500 extra. Much more reasonable. I think I'm going to go with Compsite. They spray Awlcraft.

That’s seems reasonable. I would love to see some before and after pics.

Deposit down for a July painting slot!
Now the fun begins, selecting a color...

Stars and Stripes Blue is a near match for my gelcoat, but I have read there can be float problems with the paint pigment. I am also not certain I want to keep it the same color.
I was eyeballing the following after looking at some examples of each online...
Stars and Stripes Blue
Boston Whaler Blue
Bahama Blue
Empress Blue
Blue Tone White
Aqua Mist
Thoughts?

Congrats on the slot and price. My pick is Bahama Blue. I guess I’m going to research a little more to find a more reasonable price here in South Florida. Good luck with the project. How many days will the boat be out of commission?

Painter said a couple of weeks. Plan is to drop it off on July 12th and pick it up at the end of the month.

Citrus! Bottom left of page one. Not too dark, but doesn’t have your typical pastelly look to it. And it would be the only sailfish in that color!

You must spend too much time at the Oregon Inlet fishing center lol I am willing to bet there are a couple painted in that color!
