Fishnfool, have no fear. I don't have your gps coordinates, yet.
The take away for fin is that sooner or later once he got more familiar with his radar, the radar and chartplotter not matching up would have caught his attention and may have caused him some concern. It won't now, he knows exactly what's going on, so it has been beneficial and anytime I can spend a lot of someone else's money is a good day for me.

Then you weren't paying attention to the demonstration.

Wow, I missed the part that this was your video and not one you found on youtube. I've got you locked and loaded now!
Are you on a private dock?
I used to be just south of you and fished the Bay Bridge and around Thomas Point Light frequently. I kept my boat on both the South and West Rivers on the other side of Annapolis.
What I found interesting when I looked up fin is that the chart for both training and my captain's test was from the Long Island Sound area, so it looked familiar to me and then it brought back memories of the training course I took.

Ha I thought these GPS units were good to within+/-3'? Zoom that satellite in! I Am At A Private Group Dock. Yep Hit The BRidge, Tpl, Bloody Point, Luv Point Quite A Bit, Although Not So Much This Year. Get Gas At Cantlers Usually.

I was playing around with Google earth and recognized several landmarks from the OUPV test as well. Pretty cool stuff Ron.

You're bringing back other memories, the navigation problems, set and drift calculations, and dead reckoning used for the USG exam were all done from a chart that's at Glen's front door.

Quote of fishnfool - "Ha I thought these GPS units were good to within+/-3'? Zoom that satellite in!"
When I plugged in fin's numbers Google dropped me right on the nose of his boat. When I zoomed in I could recognize his twins Yamahas in the raised position and the positive ID for me were the empty Corona bottles on deck. All the other boats nearby had Bud and Miller cans.
Your boat must not have been at the dock the day the satellite photo was taken, there were no boats that looked they could be your boat, so I struck out trying to find you. Maybe it was a foggy morning and radar let you be one of the few that was able to get out?

Yeah one has to get up really early in the morning to pull the wool over captain Ron's eyes and judging from the time on his last post he don't sleep much either

Just a little tip for you when you get out this weekend and start working with the radar. Start using it to help you identify nun and can buoys relative to your position. 10/4... will do I want to see what the radar sees. I think that's the best way to get acquainted with the unit. And on the way once in the river it will be Corona time.
