Yes the ocean is looking nice, hopefully the thunderstorm are just scattered summer pattern.
The water is hot hot hot. 79 deg at the inlet up to 82 at 130 ft (as deep as we went). Mahi scattered. On the radio sounded like lots of empty fish boxes. Though my neighbor fished even closer in and did better. Mix of mahi kings and 2 wahoo. Best signs is life I found were 100-110 ft. Good luck, enjoy the beach in Ocracoke!

Good going! AJ are always fun. It's looking to be a beautiful week. Hey Fishnfool were headed out of Masonboro Inlet Tuesday morning headed for the break or a good temp break. I think you were asking about pulling a dredge on THT. I pull one every time we go and usually double our fish count. Mahi just cant stand it they come up take a look and go right to the spread. Last time out we were fishing a weed line and another boat beside us wasn't catching and we were pulling them in as fast as we could. it makes a big difference in my opinion. Gatorman

Good luck Tuesday! The way it's looking coming off this blow Sun/Mon, we will likely head out later in the week. Maybe do a nearshore AR trip Tues if the winds lay down like they say. I have a Fish Razor strip dredge and a 6lb weight which I plan to cleat off on my stern. Curious how I'll manage the CD30 that I like to run on the other side. Guys on Saltwater Central said the samething as you. Now I just need to rig up the dredge.

Yes the guy on SWC that replied to you "reelsalty" is a good buddy of mine and fishes with me every time we go. Russel at BWC custom made ours and it works like a champ you might want to give them a look. If its not rough we will cleat it off, but if it is we will put it on the downrigger to keep it out of the whitewash in clean water. Good luck to ya looks like a good week finally.

How'd you do today?

We got Map From Capt Dave SWC and it said fish 23 mile rock or around that area. We did that with no love and hearing no one else was catching so we ran to the stream. Trolled around all the weedlines were a mess so we were cleaning baits constantly and finally said screw it. We ran in 30 miles near Grainger wreck and bottom bounced and caught some grouper and other bottom groceries. The water temp was 80 degrees every where, we could not find a temp break. Caught a nasty storm on the way home that felt like a hurricane in the middle of it. Good day on the water but I think it will be better later on this week. Did you go?

I was watching that storm, it kept me in. We were going to run to a near shore AR but it started creeping this way, never made it here but wasn't going to chance it.
Guy across the creek from me in a 36 Yellowfin went out this morning at 5am, brought home a smallish hoo, a blackfin and a bailer.

Be glad you stayed on the hill that was one of the worst storms I have had to go through. it went from flat calm to 4-6's with a 50mph easy wind gust and lighting. I put the riggers down hoping the lightning would not get us. It took us 6 miles to get through it, it was not fun.

My oldest was a little disappointed we couldn't get out yesterday

Went out BFT inlet yesterday. LATE start. Found flyers and an area full of rips and a .5 deg temp break. That was about 17 miles out. 83 deg water. Trolled it for about half an hour without success and moved on to bottom fishing. Got a few of the normal cast of characters in 100’ of water before that same storm caused the Admiral to direct an RTB ASAP.
Short day, but we got on the water and missed that storm. Pretty sure it would have stayed well west of us, but tough to tell with no radar. Tried to get someone on the radio with a radar to give an update, but got no love.

Today was supposed to be a bust weather wise but things turned for the better so I took the entire family out to do some near shore jigging, wore my two oldest boys out on AJs, 5 or 6, caught a slinger under a mylar balloon in 80' of water, too bad he was all by himself. My oldest finished the day with his best speckled trout yet.

All we could get is maybe a 1/2 degree temp break which isn't going to cut it.

Probably going to try the rock pile, the rise and or triple zeros Friday if the weather holds.

Rutgers is showing a good temp break on the 600 line near the rise. Gonna wait and see what the afternoon SST shots show then decide.
