I thought the ETEC might save them, but I guess not:

The company went down hill when OMC sold out. 2 boats in my marina run etecs and they are both in the shop.

Yeah, it's sad. The ETEC performance numbers are good, but the Evinrude reputation for warranty work, parts supply issues, etc. followed the ETEC too. You read everywhere that boats are selling better than normal, but Evinrude says COVID-19 is causing them to stop production - NOT.

I wonder how they intend to provide warranty service to all of those customers that just bought new rudes that came with 7 yrs of warranty.

Luckily it's a big company so they're still on the hook for warranty service. Since they're now partnering with Mercury they may move that work to Mercury at some point. I always felt sorry for Evinrude customers. Good engines with good performance - until there's a problem.
Feel sorry for the employees losing their jobs and for those now orphaned engine owners.

Wow, that stinks if you own one, I see several of them in my area on newer boats.

Mercury was pretty low not too many years ago. It is interesting how many new BIG boats are fitted with Mercury now and not Yamaha, and that Evinrude couldn't hold their position. I guess folks just don't want 2-stroke, not matter what.

Imagine if resell with a boat rigged with rudes was bad before, its going to be a lot worse now.
