Hi Guys- So I bought a 2005 Sailfish 24 WAC. The previous owner didn't fish so he was no help to me on this fishing machine of a boat. I can't get an actual manual from Sailfish, just one of those generic things, nothing specific to the boat. Sailfish won't even answer my request so here I am. I am an experienced boater but I haven't owned a boat like this before. She looks great, and runs great after my shakedown cruise the other day, so after some initial problems finding a battery draining issue, it looks like I am all set for the year. Now, without a real owner's manual I am not exactly clear what I have here and that is where you guys come in, if you would please. Thank you in advance for any comments/advice. Sorry if they seem like stupid questions, I just want to know my boat as best I can and am a little frustrated with that at this point.
On Picture A. I assume item 1 in the picture is what I describe for fresh water, and item 2 is a live baitwell. First question is on the salt water pump. Previous owner has no clue because he never used it and it is not working but I believe the pump itself is located on the bulkhead just inside the battery compartment, directly under the bait-well. I did see something that is likely the saltwater pump there and I should have taken a pic of that for this post, although all I can see is the top of it and it looks like original equipment that needs to be replaced.Seems like it will be loads of fun to even get it out of there, never-mind replace it, but if that is my biggest problem, I am in good shape. I do want to replace it.
Picture B is the switches that run the fresh (working, has been replaced) and saltwater pump (not working)
Picture C Obviously that is a hose attachment but for what? Is that for filling up the wells that I point out in picture D? Are these wells meant for your catch and to be filled with salt water? I have 3 of them on the deck. They have drains. How do they drain, or not drain as needed, even if I fill them with buckets of seawater?
Finally- Referring to Picture D I notice a distinct lack of cleats or hooks of any kind to hang fenders. I don't like hanging them from railing stanchions. Is that gunnel location a safe place to install something for that purpose? I also find a lack of line chocks from the bow cleat, so the line just runs up against the first stanchion. I would rather have stainless chocks, and I want to install them but wish I had a schematic on where to put any additional hardware.
