Bout damn time, missed two weekends of fishing. Had a bad oil pump seal which caused small drips of oil in the splash well while motors were tilted up. It's been going on a +/-3 yrs now so figured it was time to bite the bullet. Job requires the engine block to come.off just to access the oil pump/seals. While in there they are going to replace the oil pump too and install a speedi sleeve to keep the crank shaft from wearing grooves into the seal. Also discovered while there, both trim seals on the port motor were leaking. just told them to do it while there.

Hmmm. That sounds expensive..... Yea I'm afraid it is... But I try to rationalize it by reminding myself of all the money I've save doing my own maintenance over the years and after 10 yrs and with 900+ hrs on my motors this is the first repair they've required. And cheaper than repowering.

Nice, you keep up with all your maintenance. Now your back in the water the rest of the season should be trouble free. BTW boat looks brand new. Like myself everything on the boat mechanically has to be up to par. When your out and away from shore and your family is on board it's a huge relief knowing everything has been done properly. Now enjoy because our season is so short.

Like myself everything on the boat mechanically has to be up to par. When your out and away from shore and your family is on board it's a huge relief knowing everything has been done properly. Now enjoy because our season is so short. And...I let the dealer I bought my Albemarle from do the first oil change in the 2 Volvos as part of the purchase. When I checked there was oil in the bilge, and oil around the filters. Turns out their 'excellent' mechanic that knows everything about Volvos, well he doesn't do oil changes. They hire 18 year olds in the summer to do simple work and of course, no one checks behind them.
It would be a long story to tell all my bad experiences with that dealer, but I no longer deal with them at all, and now I do all the maintenance I feel qualified to do. Yes, there is some I'd turn over to a more qualified mechanic if I wasn't sure I could handle, and now I have another shop that is much more professional.
fishnfool, Sorry you started the season with maintenance issues, but hope they're fixed soon and you're back on the water.

Well hookedup i See it like this. anything you can't do yourself and someone else does for you, there's a high probability something will go wrong. That's across the board.
