Sit on them? No. Lean against, Yes.
I do sit on my gunwales though.
The combing pads are held in place with plastic Christmas tree clips so while they are pretty tough, I dont think they are designed for that kind of shear load.

What fishnfool said. I had a fat uncle try to fit on the gunnel and missed. He popped my coming pad right off.

If it's what I'm thinking you're referring to I don't sit on them. They flip up to allow you to stand at the helm with a little more room. If it's comfortable I guess you could sit on them, but I don't think they were designed to act as a booster seat.

Ok, I'm with you now. You must have the Llbrock seats at your helm. They are pretty sturdy and I would think that they would hold you no problem. But I don't see where it would be very comfortable.

Yes, that's what I was thinking of. Yeah, if it's comfortable for you I guess you could. I'm with outtadblue though, that wouldn't be comfortable for me personally to sit on. It also doesn't look to be that safe a perch if you hit a sharp wave or wake, too easy to get tossed out of.
I like your boat and the color choice for your upholstery, sharp looking boat.

I would prefer white upholstery but that doesn't appear to be an option for the lsat 2 years at least. Thank you. We are closing on it any day now. Waiting to get the electronics figured out.

My buddy's yellowfin has these seats and they are super comfortable. I have toyed with the idea of replacing my bench seat with a pair of these. I'm almost in need of having to recover my seat, so I'm looking at these once again. You can sit on them with the cushion in the up position. Not sure I would in any heavy seas though.

Have you thought about upholstering the floors too? Might be a good idea, softer landings and that kind of thing...

I just don't know how to respond to that. 8 inch pads all around I guess. Too funny!!!

Tiger, I sit on the bolster quite a bit and it seems fine. With the bolster down and the seat high enough for me to see clearly in messy seas, I have to put it up too high to be comfortable and since I'm short, too close to the console too if I want my back against or even near the back rest.
I found that it's great while relaxing or in calm seas to have the bolster down, but in 'normal' seas around here, it's better for me to put a throwable PFD against the backrest and put the bolster up. I can either stand in front of it or sit on it that way.
I had thought with how adjustable the seat is I wouldn't have to do that, but the length of the seat with the bolster down and having the seat near the top of the post it just doesn't work for me.

I got the 'Capt. Chair Upgrade (Adjustable Height Pedestal)' option. I don't know what the standard chair provides. This option allows me to move it forward and back, and up and down. I can also turn it around and lock it at different positions, but there really isn't much room to do that, so I haven't done anything but make sure it pivots on the pedestal.

hookedup has a 245 dual console, so the helm seat is a pedestal seat. This will help you see what he is referring to. Notice the levers for the various seat adjustments under the cushion. Click on the image to enlarge it.Attachment Deleted
