A radar mount whether it be a scanstrut or seaview? And if so do you have a wedge installed as well? I put a clinometer on my dash at different speeds, on plane and off and it seems to me a 4* wedge would be a good addition. I just recently installed a Quantum radar and the profile is much lower than the dinosaur analog antenna that was on top. so I am thinking of getting it up off the top and adding a wedge. Thoughts? Thanks for reading have a great night. chris

I just have a wedge sitting under my radar which is mounted right to the top. Seems to work fine.

I put a Seaview Radar 4 Wedge under my Garmin Fantom 24". Seems to work great and, like yours, the clinometer indicated this was the correct angle for running at cruise. It also gets the radar off the hardtop so I can clean underneath. Had someone tell me that you can get mildew if you directly mount it to a hardtop and the wedge will lift it up enough to avoid that.

I have a seaview mount and a wedge. It came rigged this way. I can’t say it is any better than just sitting on hard top with just a wedge.

I’m about 2 inches too high at low tide. High tide I would be too y’all anyway. I have to call the bridge operator. Thank goodness the old operator retired. He was a sob.

I've a Simrad 4g mounted with just a wedge, then with a 4 inch or 5 inch mount with a built in wedge and performance was definitely better with the mount...mainly with closer targets in the channel. If you have the room to raise it up a bit, I would. I used a Seascan mount.
The simrad install manual has great instructions regarding the height needed vs t-top length.

Guess your state or railroad does things different. Around here all overwater railroad bridges are raised unless a train is coming. But, that may be because all the railroad bridges around here are on main waterways for commercial traffic.

The new guy keeps it raised now unless a train is coming.

Thanks for all the reply's, I went with the wedge and it works great, no real substantial increase in height and the picture as far as I can tell is more accurate. Thanks to all that chimed in! sol...
