Went offshore last night. Never saw the full moon cause of the 20-25kt winds and the storm
But limited on a few decent mangos(3 x 20”) Caught decent grunts, alamaco, trigger, a yellowtail (13” center of pic), short cobia , triggers and strangest thing...remoras ....I think 1/2 dozen.
It was one of the hairiest trips for me on the sea to be frank. Enough that I got out the ditch bag, made ready the life jackets and radio handset
But damn the full moon fishing

Remoras, sometimes I see them below the boat and mistake them for cobias until they get closer to the surface. Then I realize what they are and try to avoid catching them.
Nice shot of the almaco, yours is one of the few that I've seen where I can clearly see the difference between an almaco and an AJ.

Looks like time to get the hell out of there. That was the direction home! It wasn’t fun, but all 3 boats stayed.

Did you stay and ride the storm out or push your way through it back to the dock? How far were you from land? I hate it when you get a big storm between you and land. It sucks!!!

23 miles. We were on the hook when it hit Let out all my scope and rode it out and fished( well half the boat did. One guy was sick, I stayed at the helm, engine running, and had all the emergency stuff at the ready if needed) Ride in woulda been worse and probably a 3 hour ride
FWIW the fish didn’t even know there was a storm

Good job. Sometimes it's better to ride it out, especially if the fish are biting.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think the Alamaco jacks are very common in the Atlantic?
With the closed red snapper season here now, I'm not sure its worth bottom fishing until it cools down some and sea bass get bigger. Nice mess of fish Ol Mucky, but where did that Avatar come from?!!
