Hey fellow owners...
Trying to get my ducer working and not having much luck. Picked the boat up and noticed that the depth was flashing, not sure how I overlooked this. Did some troubleshooting, still no dice. Here is a synopsis of the configuration and what I’ve done:
- Garmin shows the ducer as a Garmin GT30 even though it is really an Airmar B60
- Restored factory defaults
- Updated software
- Disconnected/Reconnected the ducer at the Garmin
- When I go into the Garmin sonar settings and look at the list of ducers I do not see a B60. There are a lot of Airmar units in there to manually select, just not that one. Verified it is a supported ducer for that particular Garmin unit.
- I’ve disabled Zoom etc, basically all of the things on the sonar troubleshooting page.
I’m at a loss...any assistance would be appreciated!

Did you try these steps?
Open the sonar view for which you will change the source.
Select MENU > Sonar Setup > Source.
Select the source for this sonar view.

I believe so, honestly I’ve done so much I can’t remember. I’ll give it a shot. I believe it has more to do with the Garmin not even having the B60 in the list of transducers to select it. The boat is out right now. I’ll give what you said a try on Friday/Saturday when it’s back in the water. Maybe even call Garmin. I called the dealer, they had no clue and asked me to bring it back. I just can’t believe they didn’t notice this on their “PDI”.

Try that and see what you see.
Is the ducer plugged direct into the MFD?
If all else fails, Garmin customer support.

Does the B60 need the wire transfer box to take 6 pin to 8 pin? I thought i read somewhere that it does need it. If so, would it be near where the ducer comes through the hull of up near the MFD.

My 1042xsv came with a B60. When I first put it in the water it had the same problem and it occasionally worked right. I don't remember what the system reported the transducer as, but once I had it on land I looked at the transducer and it had a protective covering on the transducer. Removed it and it 'removed' the problem. The covering was almost perfectly aligned with the transducer, so look carefully.
Good luck.

I’ll definitely look at that given it’s out of the water right now.
