Good Morning, I replace the archaic mfd and radar and the last bit is to change out the vhf. The original Standard Horizon vhf is ginormous compared to the newer radios on the market. I am looking for a panel, preferably black to cover the hole and accept the new icom I would like to install. Newwiremarine quoted me $91 for what I would like and they are out of their minds if they want that much for a 4" x7" piece of metal with a hole in it. I could go the starboard route but that doesn't interest me. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks sol...

Call BOE Marine they can make you a panel.
It's not just the piece of Acrylic you pay for but the man hours involved. Also what I learned when I wanted to have a speaker ring made, when they cut from a sheet, depending on the sheet size there might not be enough left over for them to use so you're actually buying a bigger sheet than the panel you want, so you're paying for the waste/discard.

Just buy some black acrylic and cut it yourself with a jigsaw, it's not too difficult...boat outfitters sells as big a piece as you want, but you could probably find black on amazon or eBay. I did the whole dash panel on my 2360 and it came out great.
Toughest part is carefully sanding the edges, but just go slow.

Jski59 hit it on the head. Get a plexi glass jig saw blade and cut it yourself. Sand edges when done. I also did my dash in black acrylic, turned out great.

Or buy a replacement that fits the same hole.
