looking to add some outriggers to our 218cc and was wondering if the plates in the TTop are structurally sound to support some outrigger bases? Also recommendations for outriggers for our boat, looking at the taco 170s and 280s. It looks like the 280s need extrusion plates welded in place. Thanks

You want to know if the Taco outrigger plates that were welded to your top designed for outrigger bases are structurally sound for outrigger bases?
I surely hope so because I mounted bases to mine.
I like carbon fiber retractable riggers, they are light and easy to store. I went with Gemlux riggers and Rupp Z30 bases.

These plates look nothing like the extrusion plates taco sells. There is no hole or bolt holes just a solid piece of aluminum.

I don't remember what the plates on my 218 looked like. I know there are guys here with 218's and outriggers hopefully they'll chime in on what they did.

Is this a new boat? My 2007 had factory installed outrigger bases that were on an aluminum plate, but the bottom of bases were welded to t top frame. Those were removed before I bought boat and plates were left. I mounted Rupp Z30 bases to that plate, but there was too much flex without support from the bottom to the frame, if that makes sense. Took to local fabricator and he added a bigger plate and made the span the plate traversed smaller with another piece of tubing. I have Marsh Tacky 17' retractables.

No its a 2004, it has aluminium plates welded on both sides but not the taco extrusion plates with hhe predrilled holes. I'm purchasing the taco 170s after talking it over with taco marine about my setup.
