Hey guys, Just sold my old Shamrock 20’ Pilot House and I’m ready to get something a bit bigger I love to fish and now the family wants to spend some time on the water. Been reading about these boats for a while and I like how the boats are laid out and I’m fond of the hull design. I’m from East Haddam CT so I plan on trailering. Looking for a used center console 23-26 ‘. Something the kids and the wife can sit comfortably but also a boat that I can go 80 miles offshore. I know these forums are a wealth of information, thanks to you guys, so I figured I’d join before I bought the boat and see what you guys think. Thanks.

Hey welcome wannafish. Member finatic is from CT he fishes out that far in his 2360. Tough time to be looking for boats with inventory being low and demand high. Hopefully more inventory becomes available this winter. Good luck with your search.

Welcome aboard wannafish. I live in Bethany, and keep my boat in Branford. I had tremendous success with my 2360 fishing offshore this year. Pick your weather days very carefully as I did and my runs are anywhere from 170 to 200 miles for these trips. These boats are capable of handling a lot more than most people are willing to deal with. With that said good luck in your search and show us some photos when you find that boat.

Thanks Guys, Good to hear....Ya think that what I have narrowed my search down to is a 2360. Just found a 2011 wth twin Yamaha 4 stroke 115's. Is that enough engine?

Neat story. The shamrock was a 1989 had the original indmar 302. Cool looking boat but wet as hell. I hated contorting myself to work on the motor. It was in nice shape and always caught someone’s attention at the boat launch. Sold it a few weeks ago to Mr. Billy Joel. I know she’ll be well taken care of cruising sag harbor. I met him at saybrook point inn for a sea trial. That was the highlight of my summer. Pretty cool.

The coolest thing about that story is that Billy Joel himself came, checked it out, went for a sea trial instead of just sending his lackey....
How was he?

He was good guy. Came over from sag harbor on the Alexa sword fishing boat. Really nice. Reserved me spot at the dock. I wouldn’t have recognized him if he walked by me. He’s not very tall. Just wore T shirt with jeans and sneakers. But acted really down to earth. I had printed out a nice picture of my boat and he signed it. Got the check and bill of sale with his signature. Thought I would get a lunch or a drink at the dock, but just got a hand shake and a “nice to meet you. We’ll be in touch” He bought the Boat so I’m not complaining.

The Billy Joel bought your 98 Shamrock??? WOW That must've been one special Shamrock. That’s what I said when the guy on the phone said, “ Billy Joel is looking for a boat just like yours” Wait, you mean The Billy Joel!!?!?? It was an 89. He used to have one back in the late early 80’s. 3rd boat he owned. It was nice but not that nice. I’d post a pic if I could figure it out.

Very cool Turns out BJ is big into boats, seemingly more of the classics. A mention of his Shamrock here... www.soundingsonline.com/features/talking-boats-with-billy-joelI can only imagine what hes going to do to that boat.
