Hey everyone, I am in the final stages of purchasing a 2014 240 center console with a 300hp Yamaha.
Getting a survey done tomorrow and was wondering if there are any specific questions I should be asking? Any issues you guys have run into in your experience? Anything I am not thinking of?
Appreciate your feedback!

Survey = good
Ask for maintenance records so you know what service might need to be performed after you pick her up.
The surveyor will take care of the rest.
Good luck!

Just remember, a survey, generally, is on the boat, not the motor. There's guys on here who have a lot more general motor issue knowledge specific to that vintage motor. If it's a motor that has some notorious issues it's probably worth having the dealer you're going to use go over it. I can never keep track, but I think some Yamahas have had exhaust and balancer issues, find out if there's any trouble spots for this motor.

Last 2 boats I sold I provided compression test results and maintenance records. You can't guarantee everything, but those 2 items are things I'd ask for. On my Sailfish I'm doing the maintenance, but I've saved the purchase receipts from SIM for the 100 hour kit and other parts needed for the maintenance and I'll give those and dates maintenance done to the next owner if/when I sell it.

All sound good, I would like to see a print out of how the motor has been run, rpm's will can say a lot. Good luck.

Thanks for the info! I do have a survey scheduled including a mechanic check of the engine running compression test and leak-down test so sounds like I'm on the right path at least.

Definitely use a surveyor who not only goes over the hull but runs compression tests as well as other testing on the engine. My surveyor went through the engine with a fine tooth comb. Good luck!
