This is the culprit I believe... I think I'll have to wait until I'm on land to replace/adjust it.... I don't see anything external that I can spray/clean.... Did you find the sender unit cam and rule out it is not broken?

Yes, the tip of that sender unit rests on it and it seems fine. I have the port engine to compare it to and both actuate similarly. It’s just that once that arm moves a little bit, the trim stays display goes from 1 or 2 hashes to full up. So I think the sender is bad or at least dirty. I’ll re-attempt cleaning but the sender might just be bad.

The sender should spring up readily when you push it down, and the gauge show the change in the number of bars. If it doesn't, again check that grease isn't impeding the spring action. Also, the mounting screw may have loosened and allowed the sender to move out of position. If neither of these make a difference, the sender is probably bad.
I replaced mine several years ago. It worked fine until this past summer and I thought it had gone bad again. When I cleaned it up, I found the grease was gumming it up and it worked fine once it was free to move.

Yes, it moves easily and returns to position when released. I think the sender is bad, *or* grease got on the contacts and are screwing up the variable resistance that drives the display. Anyway, at present, it's not critical and my approach to resolve the grease would be a hard spray of contact cleaner or carb cleaner to clean out any gunk, and I'd just assume *not* do that now while it's still in the water....it's sure to runoff into the water and I'd prefer to avoid that, especially when it's just a pesky display. So I'll wait till I'm on blocks, doing the 100 hr maintenance, and clean or replace the sender then. Thanks for all the feedback folks. I am really glad to have found this forum. I hope to get a good month of fishing coming up and then work on buttoning it up for the winter.

I think Maysport is referring to the seacock on the bottom of the hull, I was talking about the ball valves on the drains. Anyway if you have plugs that work for you, that should be fine...I just prefer to use the valves vs keeping track of plugs. Update: Ball valves that I thought were seized on the *drains* for both live wells are working fine. I believe they were reported as seized on the survey, but I think they were just dried out and stuck - once I used them and they got rinsed on the inside they seem to be fine. I'll examine the fill side next chance I get.

That's a relief I'm sure!
