has anyone ever put insulation strips like 3m on the edges of the fish boxes on a 218cc? We fished offshore yesterday and by the time we got back almost all the 200 lbs of ice had melted. Any suggestions? Thanks

Keep that area covered I put my life raft over the that fish box. Anything will work that keeps the sun off of it. I also put rubber weather stripping on the inside of the covers all the hatches as a matter of fact the hardest thing is the proper placement of the gasket.

Where did you purchase the rubber gasket from?

This is what I used on my 220. It comes with adhesive on it but I also used 15 min epoxy form auto parts store to glue it to the lid. I had to buy two it’s not long enough to do both fish boxes. They held ice all day in 90 South Georgia heat I also use a few frozen gallon jugs. I happy with the way they seal. I didn’t use the fish boxes before adding the neoprene so I cant compare the difference with or without. I also have to leave the lid on the fish boxes cracked or open when the boat is stored under the cover or mildew will grow in the fish boxes which didn’t happen before sealing them. I would recommend figuring out how much gap you have around the lip and the lid. I put playdoh in a few areas around the lip and closed the lid. Then i opened the lid and measured the thickness of the smashed playdoh. That is the gap thickness you are trying to fill. Then i went on mcmaster and ordered a gasket that was the right thickness. I want to say i ordered something like this: www.mcmaster.com/93085K81/.
