I am changing out my electronics. I am removing my Raymarine C120 and replacing it with a Garmin 4212XSV. I have next to my C120 a Raymarine key pad for entering coordinates into the GPS. I am removing the key pad and plan on covering the hole with starboard. I have come up with an idea of putting a fuel tank gauge where the key pad was. Has anyone else added a fuel tank gauge? Does anyone have any recommendations as to a brand and type of sending unit. Also does anyone know the height or depth of the fuel tank for a 2005 Sailfish 2660, I know that it is a 200 gallon tank. Also if anyone is interested in my C120 including Sea Talk, Key pad, 2 DSM's a 60 and a 300 please let me know.

After repowering this past spring, the yam gauges were gone, so I installed a piece of starboard to cover the holes, and a short term teleflex fuel level gauge. Ez wiring to the gauge - power, ground and the oem pink wire from the oem tank sending unit. The gauge is simply an ohm meter, standard US marine fuel level system is 33Ω – 240Ω.
After i figured out how to get the fuel tank level interfaced with the simrad, i disconnected the teleflex gauge, and rewired the oem sending unit to a simrad fluid level module, and the other side of the module to the nmea2k network.
If not confident in knowing how to wire power, ground and sending unit, then please hire a marine mechanic. Electricity and fuel learning experiment has the potential to be a deadly disaster.
I sold my C120, and the buyer was interested in the radar dome when i eventually uninstall it. He might be interested in your C120 items. If you want I could connect you guys with email, noting i have no personal interest/gain in this, just trying to introduce you to a possible buyer.

A friend just installed a Garmin 1242 XSV yesterday. Also added a Garmin Steady Cast heading sensor and now have both motors networked to the 1242 and the Garmin UHD 743 CV. Made a new frame out of starboard and continued it over to cover the hole from the key pad. Unfortunately the 743 is a ULTRA High Def transducer so the 1242 does not recognize it. I am going to get an adapter cable from my Airmar P66 that was on my Raymarine C120 and plug that into the 1242. Or I am going to buy the transducer for the 1242. Looking it up it's like $600.00 with side scan. Not sure if I really need sidescan. With out it's around $250.00 with chirp and down view. I have both of those features on the 743 back up. So maybe using the P66 will be okay. Any thoughts?

So maybe using the P66 will be okay. Any thoughts? Nice new electronics system. The Garmin 1242 is a sweet unit at an attractive price in the screen size and feature class. Looking forward to hearing how you like using it and seeing some screen shots in action The ole P66 is an awesome value conventional xducer. Had one that lasted through 2 furunos on my previous boat. And my current 2660 boat had a p66 with the c120. Marked structure and fish well, a bit better on the furuno. But it will be by far the weakest technology link with the new Garmin fish finder system and limit detail potential For xducer with the new Garmin ... would put the $600 into the best chirp only transducer with attributes that matches your typical fishing situation. In my area my simrad side scan has very limited usefulness in the ocean with its motion and inshore boat wakes. For xducer mount, I only use stern saver system on any new transducer installs. Have 2 on my Sailfish 2660, and will eventually install one the Edgewater158cs I picked up this year.

Got the Garmin bare wire to 12 pin adapter. Wired it in the 1242 does not see the ducer. Called Garmin they told me to update the firmware to version 21 (it came with 20) did the update still did not work. It seems that the P66 was a 4 pin ducer with a paddle wheel. The wire for the paddle wheel also feeds another circuit. The 1242 will not recognize it. So the adapter is going back and I am buying a Chirp with Down View Temp and Traditional sonar. That will work with the 1242. Did not go for the Side Scan. So I now have a 1242 XSV and a ECHOMAP™ UHD 74cv. Just so you know the original plan was to network the 74cv to the 1242. But because 74cv is a UHD the ducer will not work. But I think I have it worked out now.
