I’ve been stuck home since the first I tested positive for COVID on the second. I started having symptoms on the 29. I was sick a few days but my symptoms were fairly mild.I finally finished my quarantine and had a negative test Monday. But my wife is still quarantine due to positive test last week with no symptoms and the kids can’t go back to school until the end of next week. I’m the only one that can leave the house for now. It’s been fun stuck home with a 5 yo, 7yo and angry wife. I was working out of town during all of the lockdowns last year. My wife says this is my payback.
So with all of this down time my wife has decided she wants chickens. So yesterday I started building a chicken coop. It’s been a while since I brought any building supplies. The price of wood is outrageous. Damn chicken coop going to cost like 1,500. It’s going to take a lot of eggs to make that up. But the wife will be happy considering she is blaming me for infecting her. I’ll be sooo glad to be going back to work next week.

I feel your pain. Been there. I agree wood prices are crazy. Had to buy some joist lumber last week for my deck remodel.
Hope you really like eggs.

I’m glad you’re doing well. My sister had me build her a chicken coupe last year. She got a half dozen yard birds and her dog broke in and ate them. She bought some more and her dog did it again. She gave up. Never got an egg.

I’m already tired of chickens and we haven’t even gotten them yet.

They sh*t everywhere. All the time Non-stop And squawk. Laying eggs they’ll all squawk. They want food they squawk. One gets separated they squawk. They will eat your ornamentals too. Just about anything but border grass, palms and pineapple plants.
Did I mentioned they sh*t everywhere? It smells too. Hopefully you have a big yard and no neighbors (or tolerant ones). The eggs are good though. And they are kinda cool when they aren’t doing all the above.
