Well thanks to this new administration we are now seeing $3 a gallon at some stations here in Connecticut. How can this help the state recover from the pandemic. What prices are you guys seeing in your area. FYI, fuel at marinas always run 60 cents to a dollar higher on the water.

Yup, prices in MA have gone up 40-45 cents per gallon. Around $2.49 now. Great....luckily I am only filling up my truck once a month these days.

An increase of $.20 here locally. I bet we'll hit $3+ by summer.

I feel for those higher gas tax states like Connecticut. It's only a quarter per gallon of gas (mine here in Virginia is 21.5), but you also have other added tax:
The frozen refineries problem in Texas will drive up prices temporarily, but policies will drive it up permanently, or at least until there is a leadership change.
Virginia is installing wind generators 23 miles offshore. The power company is hiding how much it will add to our bills, but for sure it's much more expensive than fossil fuel power. And, due to wind lulls or storms it won't be as reliable so we'll still require fossil fuel or nuclear backup with the same capacity we have now.
I know North Carolina has both wind generator farms and solar farms just down the road a bit from me. I'm not sure how that's working out for them. I know this February has got to be rough on solar as we've probably had 70% cloudy or rainy days for the last month or more - and at the same time we've had lots of cold weather requiring more power.

Well that's true, and the governor of this state is a complete idiot. That's for our vehicles, per family what about the 1200 to 1600 gallons that go into my boat, I pay road tax on that also.

Here's another reason not to move to Connecticut The yacht club I belong to because it's nonprofit we have to pay what's called a cabaret tax 16 1/2% on our dues and on mooring fees They've always got their hands out in the state it's supposed to get easier it's getting harder.

Our parody state motto under our old Gov used to be "Welcome to Maryland, what's in your wallet?"

You guys making me feel better about Virginia. I get back my 'road use' taxes on gas I put in the boat. I just have to keep my receipts and apply online.
Years back (about 50) I didn't move to Maryland while working in DC. Maryland would have made me pay my car taxes again in order to title the car in Maryland. I had just purchased a new car and sure didn't want to pay purchase taxes twice. I suspect that tax still applies to new residents as it's rare that a state gets rid of a tax.

Yea but we dont have personal property taxes to pay each year on our boats and cars. When I lived in VA I would cringe each year I had to write a check to the state of $1k+ for my one car. Also seemed like double taxation. I remember the one candidate for Governor ran back in the 90s, he ran one thing and one thing alone, repeal the PP tax. He won. While he didnt get rid of it entirely, he managed to roll it back at least. Maryland does get you good if you lease car though. Unlike most states, they charge you on the total tax on the vehicle sale price rather than just the tax on portion you lease. On the plus side if you buy the car at the end of your lease you dont have to pay tax again but man oh man does it make leasing a car here cost prohibitive.

You already know how bad CT is,,, to get road taxes back on the boat the minimum last time I checked was 2,000 gallons and I'm sure it's probably going up since then.Vehicle taxes $ 1500, property tax 11k don't move here.

Stop what pal. You have a choice not to read if it upset you that much. Also a big jump in home heating oil I'm dropping some real ugly bills and people's mailboxes to fill their homes up.
