I have been looking at another boat since 2015. Hopefully you folks can educate me on Sailfish. Have owned Welcraft Baja Skeeter among others. Last boat we sold Wellcraft did a lot of off shore fishing but when dad dies lost interest. Should retire in next year or so will be 68. Hopefully you all can help

Don't know enough about you to provide a good answer, but I'll give you a short history on how I ended up with a Sailfish 245DC. Had lots of boats over the years. Had an Albemarle 285XF that I took 80-100 miles offshore regularly(gulf stream is 80 miles offshore here). Family hated the boat as it was designed as an offshore fishing boat and didn't lend itself to my grandkids running around safely. Retired and got a Robalo R207, a dual console. Family loved it and it was fairly fishable inshore. Wife decided we needed a bigger boat as more grandkids came along and she picked the Sailfish due to it's excellent seating, great ride in choppy water, ability to pull towables full of grandkids and a good fishing boat for me. It's been 80 miles offshore and caught in those nasty sudden summer storms. Handled great. I have a friend with a Contender center console and he comes out with me regularly for the dryer smoother ride.
Like I said, what you get depends on your needs. The Sailfish met both my wife's and my requirements.

I am 67 years old have place in Pawleys Island SC. I have been to the Hector wreck numerous times Gulf Stream twice in a 210 fisherman. Looking at 24 foot with twin 150s. Have looked at Boston Whaler, Grady White, Cobia, Sea Hunt, Sportsman. Also recently looked at Wellcraft 262 with twin 200s. We use the bot to offshore fish as well as travel ICW from Georgetown SC to Charleston SC with the wife. Hopefully this answers your questions and thanks for responding

The other boats are in the 25 foot to 26 foot. Learned to run a 28 foot Chris Craft when I was 8 years old. Granddaddy has a Chris Craft franchise in the 50s and early 60s. I did lake boating until late 90s

Based on some recent stories from an owner of a new Wellcraft, I'd steer clear of that brand. Some nasty structural stuff going on there and an unhelpful factory.
Some might prove a bit drier, but the Sailfish will ride better than any of the brands mentioned.

I can echo a bit of what Richard said about the 245 DC, great riding hull, very versatile for family use, extremely comfortable. Have been through Barnegat Inlet in NJ several times in pretty nasty conditions, including once with about an 8 foot standing wave (Barnegat is a notoriously bad inlet) and always fely very confident in the boats ability to handle those conditions and please with the way it did once through the inlet. The DC layout requires some trade offs, for me the most notable has been difficulty casting in certain conditions. I thought the ability to walk around the CC would be more noticeable, but honestly that hasn't been so noticeable.

Welcome!!! The only boat that I have been on in your size range is a Sea Hunt. Hands down the sailfish is a better boat. Good luck with your search.

I would stay clear of Wellcraft and Sportsman. I hate the design of the newer Whalers. Grady Whites are very nice, well built rigs but you will pay a lot more $ for the Grady name(similar to Regulator). I've owned Whalers, Makos, Pursuits, and Aquasports over the years but don't think I will ever own anything but a Sailfish going forward. Love the build quality, fishing and family friendly at the same time. If I hit the lottery I will consider buying a 33 Southport.

High praise twisted Grady is one fine boat but has a price to match.
