North Carolina Coastal Conservation put this out. Hard to believe just how mismanaged that fishery has been. (click on the chart to enlarge)
LEGISLATIVE UPDATE - 5/7/21
Data obtained from the NC Division of Marine Fisheries, commercial data for 2019 was incomplete at the time of request. House Bill 894, Rebuild Southern Flounder Stocks, was filed this week by Reps. Larry Yarborough, John Bell, Jason Saine and Carla Cunningham. The need for this bill highlights the mismanagement of the Southern flounder here in NC for decades. The NC DMF has continued to make poor decisions and the Southern flounder stocks are on the verge of total collapse. Many of us have worked to draw attention to this stock of fish and have pleaded with the DMF and MFC to take needed steps for over 15 years. www.ncleg.gov/BillLookUp/2021/h894 This is a non-partisan issue and many Democratic and Republican representatives have already signed on as co-sponsors emphasizing that our coastal fisheries are a public trust resource that belong to all of the people of North Carolina. Again, this bill should open the eyes of all legislators to the plight of the people's marine resources brought on by years of overfishing. We encourage everyone to reach out to their representatives today to ask if we can count on their support for the future of our public trust resources.

Sounds similar to our snapper debacle.
