Just picked up a Simrad TX06 Open Array Radar to replace my Furuno Radome who’s magnatron died. Was curious if anyone else has an open array and if so didnyou mount it flush to the ttop, with a wedge, or something in between?

If you trailer the boat you might want to check before hand what your height will be by adding the height of your radar and whatever mount you're planning on to your existing trailer height to make sure you're not getting too tall for overhanging trees. In my part of Florida we have a lot of oaks that overhang the road and I think they get trimmed by tractor trailers constantly passing under them keeping them at about eleven and a half feet above the road. I mentioned in another post that I had to lay my anchor light down when I needed to move the boat and occasionally the radar (dome) would occasionally hit a branch.

I’m hoping I’m clear as i have a non-working radome on a mount now with likely a similar setup to you. I don’t trailer much, but would hate to lose my radar on my start to an offshore trip!

For what it's worth, I cut 4 spacers out of a piece of 1/2 starboard with a 1 1/2" hole saw to raise the back of mine. It's not open array but that shouldn't matter I wouldn't think. Cheap and easy spacers.

The installer had me run the boat at plane and he measured the angle of the radar unit then made a wedge to adjust it. They both were made out of starboard. Hope this helps!

Thanks guys for the insight on starboard spacers and measuring the angle on plane. Guess I’ve got some figurin to do. One day I’ll find myself an easy project!
