Hello everybody
Hopefully I'm starting this thread in the right spot... I've searched around quite a bit and have not found any information other than the initial question itself.
I recently bought a 2003 sailfish 206cc. The electronics are hit or miss as far as working and I've narrowed it down to the PCB produced by Peco Hallicrafters (won't let me upload a picture?). The question I have is whether or not the board can be bypassed entirely? There is a larger plug that appears to be related to gauges on the right side. (will attach picture of my board once I get home but here's one off google for now). The switches themselves ~should~ be a simple process of 12VDC to existing breakers to existing switches to loads. The main concern is the big plug.
Any and all information and advice is appreciated. I'm hoping to do a complete writeup with pics of the process to end the troubles once and for all.

But the end goal is to entirely eliminate this pesky board vs replacing it because in a couple years I will just be right back to the problem. The switches themselves I have a good understanding of. The part that concerns me/I know nothing about is the two plugs with 12 wires each on the right side of the board. If anybody has any info on this it would be greatly appreciated! Attachments:

Anddddd the more I just stared at it it appears maybe one of the two plugs is the wires going to the loads? I see what appears to be wires coming from each breaker to the respective switches. But don't see a wire on each switch for the "load." This is when I wish I had room at the primary house for the boat so I could tinker with it after work every day.

Does this board just run switches? If so, I would have new wire marine make you a new switch board with breakers.

If it is only switches then I am WAY over engineering the problem... The boat has a separate panel with a breaker for each switch mounted a few inches below the switches. I ordered some new rocker covers through New Marine that will arrive soon. I was hoping somebody would have an answer to the two big plugs. The more I look the more I'm convincing myself at least one plug is the loads for each switch. If I don't get an answer on the plugs by next weekend I will go to town with my multimeter before disassembling and figuring out the cleanest way to put it back together.

I'd place a bet that the PCB is only a backplane for the switches but it's hard to know without removing it to see if there are components on the other side. Chip resistors etc. can be pretty small and if populated on the inside portion of the board wouldn't be visible based on the photo. That said, on another forum I also found some discussion about a 2003 with similar issues dating back to 2014. It may be worth checking with that boat owner if you can still reach him to find out what he did to resolve his issue: www.thehulltruth.com/marine-electronics-forum/615440-switch-panel-issue.html

From what I've found so far it is simply a backplane and the only component besides wiring is the external diode for anchor/nav ligths. I reached out to the OP for the link you attached. Regardless I'm going to give it a go this weekend and will update everyone.

Thanks! Also replacing throttle and shift cables, replacing the bilge pump (do it on ever boat I get for peace of mind), removing a pedestal seat from the bow, engine maintenance, and some trailer work. Got a busy day ahead of me tomorrow but should be worth it.

Update: successfully removed/bypassed the PCB. Once I got it out I was happy I decided to go this route seeing there corrosion. Got to work with a meter to determine the pin out of the board and harness. Was very simple (will do a more in depth write up sometime this week with the relevant info for the next guy). Fired it up and everything works except the radio. Not overly concerned about that because the radio is going to be replaced soon and will address it then. Also replaced the throttle/shift cables, bilge pump, removed the pedestal seat and added an inspection port to cover up the hole from the seat. Got a couple things left for another weekend but all in all it went smoother than I expected.
