Agree, lack of craftsmanship and detail is annoying. But that’s how I got out of painting projects 28 years ago. Now the wifey just made hires someone and I have more time to complete boat projects.

Not to mention, you know it's done right. Is there anything more annoying than hiring someone to do a job you know you can do yourself, but don't have the time to get to it, and the person you hire does a mediocre job.....or worse Exactly!! Well, with engine serviced, Seastar steering cylinder replaced, hull compounded and detailed, cracked console door cut out, sanded and replaced, and dead batteries charged, I was finally able to splash the boat on Sunday and take a nice ride down the Intracoastal. After putting her back on the lift, I climbed down the boarding ladder to get off and realized the difference a 3" shorter ladder made. The middle step is now only about an inch below the trim tab. When you step on it, your body weight causes the ladder to move slightly toward the stern and that inch reduces to about 3/8" with your toe squeezed between the step and the trim tab - OUCH!!

I hear ya. I had to get special short trim tabs for my previous boat to avoid that problem. With grandkids at the ladder I knew that normal tabs would be an issue. I was really surprised that the 4 inch tabs worked so well, but they were great. Robalo puts a ladder on their dual console that is just too close to the transom to allow for normal tabs.
I hope you can work something out less expensive than made to order trim tabs.

I would ditch that ladder and get an Armstrong 4 rung and the flip up bracket. Way easier to get in and out especially with flippers. When the time comes for me, I may even put a swim platform out there so it all gets past the trim tabs and the engine.

However, new issues would be where to store ladder when running and fishing, and almost no access to transom that area for thru-bolting a different kind of bracket.
