Nj should be split into two states. South Joisey and New England Jersey. LOL
My wife's a Jersey girl but hates to be called that. She always says, No, I'm from NEW Jersey.

You guys made me look it up. A United States Geological Survey publication describes the Mid-Atlantic Region as all of Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Virginia, along with the parts of New Jersey, New York, and North Carolina that drain into the Delaware and Chesapeake Bays and the Albemarle and Pamlico Sounds.
So that would make part of NC in South East and part Mid-Atlantic (outer banks down to Morehead City area). And, I guess NY and NJ that drain into the Delaware or Chesapeake Bay.
However, I even found maps that have NY as not part of New England or Mid Atlantic and Virginia as part of South East.
Guess it all depends on what map you are using and probably which area you think you should be part of. Me, I think Virginia Beach weather and politics are more South East than Mid-Atlantic, but head up to Williamsburg (50 miles north) or Richmond (100 miles north) and they are more Mid-Atlantic in weather and politics.
