I don't know maybe I'm crazy. The only time I mess with tabs are when running at slower speeds below plan. Once running 30 to 35 knots I rearly make trim adjustments.
Guess there could be a lot of reasons. My son-in-law rarely changes trim tabs - doesn't matter if the boat is listing hard to one side or not when he's driving.
About half the time I'm out I have grandkids and their boyfriends and they all seem to prefer one side of the boat for a few minutes, then decide to go to the other side. Maybe your passengers stay put?
When going below cruising speed I usually have the tabs all the way up. I mostly use them when on plane or when I'm throttling up and want to keep the bow down, especially when pulling kids on towable.
I find that I use my tabs less down in North Carolina where I tend to travel more in a straight line and I am usually taking the winds waves on the nose - at least in the sound behind the island. But there are those times where we get nailed with a strong SW/W wind (+/- 15 knots) and my boat will want to lean into that wind. When I am out on the ocean unless I have a weight distribution issue, I find im not using my tabs, of course it helps I am going out on those bluebird days.
