finally had nice wind forecast, although offshore waves forecast at 4-7, long period.
launched in Chincoteague va about 730 am, town was empty with hurricane passing south 2 weeks ago. Calm ride out, approaching 20 fathom line realise we are on intercept course with navy air craft carrier. Slow to allow room, watching planes prep for take off, spot log, mahi, on, in box, carrier passes, continue on towards Washington Canyon, 3 miles inside run into heavy scattered saragaso weed.
Spend remainder of day trolling weeds, not really any line, mostly looking for heavy patch’s, 3 rods in wash with bubbler on them, using riggers just loaded lures with weed, 31 dolf in box, hand ful skippeys , bunch small bluefin an jacks released.
my 2 older sons as crew, good friend Bill an I

Nice looking pile of fish. Tacos and sandwiches for a month. I wish nice Mahi were easier to find here in the GOM Rag’s

Wow, you know you've had a good day when your crew has no place on the deck to stand...
