Was out blackfishing yesterday, cooler was full blackfish, porgy and sea bass.... great day on water besides a little fog. Whenever we raised our caught fish to surface, they were constantly followed by huge trigger fish, 2 or 3 at a time. We only had green crab on boat and couldn't get the trigger fish to bite. I've read that clams and squid would be choice for them. Has anyone been fishing these up north, NJ coast area? How you fishing them? ? Thanks in advance....

Should have cut up a porgy and tried a chunk of meat.

We catch them on any cut bait or squid down here in the gulf.

Nice work! We were catching triggers and sea bass a couple of weeks ago on green crabs and fleas.

I have good luck catching Triggers on squid here in the GOM. But just about everything seams to like big chunks of squid around here. Rag’s

Hey rags sounds like you had an awesome day! Congrats. Any size to the blacks? Our biggest Blackfish Wednesday was about 6lbs. Several in the 3-4lb range. There was life everywhere, have even been getting reports of inshore Tuna.

Hi latis, sorry I for some reason thought that rags made the post. Sounds like you y’all had a nice day out there with some good size blacks. Can’t wait until I get out soon.
