I'm glad to have found this new forum and would like to introduce myself. After searching for over a year, I finally found a 2012 2680 WA with twin 150 Yamaha's. We live on the Pacific Coast in Washington State and will be using the boat for fishing both near shore and off shore for Albacore tuna in the summer. The boat will be stored during the winters and be in the water (marina) from May to October. The short story is I found the boat on the Gulf Coast and had it shipped 3,000 miles after a survey, personal inspection and sea trial. I don't have to convince anyone on this forum why I was set on a Sailfish, but it did take some time to explain to my wife and first mate why I wasn't interested on any of the boats on this coast. Now that she has been on the boat she's totally "on board". This winter I'm learning and checking all the systems, safety equipment, motors, electronics, etc. to be ready to take it off shore in the spring. It has the new Simrad Go 12 Chartplotter, Radar, Fishfinder, EPIRB, plus I'll be adding and auto pilot, AIS, second VHF, and life raft, since Albacore can take us 40-50 miles off shore. I'm looking forward to sharing and learning from other Sailfish owners. Great to be here, Gary Attachment Deleted

Welcome aboard Gary! We don't have many WA owners on the forum, but they are fine boats. One of the best laid out WA in the water. Enjoy her in good health and keep us posted on your winter projects.

Welcome aboard Gary. I was born and raised 20 min north of Seattle. Halibut fishing of the coast was some of the best times. Rag’s

jpm414, welcome aboard, that's a nice part of the country. When I was a kid I lived in Seattle for a very brief period myself. My dad was in the Navy, so we moved around a lot.

Welcome and congrats on the new boat. I see lots of sitting in the boat on the hard tinkering all winter.

Thanks for all the welcomes everyone! It looks like this forum is more active than the old one, and since I don't have any Sailfish owners living near me, I'm hoping this forum will be a big help for me as a new Sailfish owner. We're a couple hours west of Portland, Oregon where the Columbia River enters the Pacific Ocean. Our nearest port is Ilwaco, recently made famous on Netflix on their new show Battlefish. It's a west coast version of Deadliest Catch and Wicked Tuna ( I think the language is a little rough for kids. )
I'm starting by a top to bottom deep cleaning after the cross country road trip. The PO said there had been an intermittent charging issue, but nothing showed up on the survey or sea trial. Turns out the on board battery charger was on its last legs so the batteries (new in 1/18) weren't getting fully charged. A new charger fixed that. The motors have 400 hours and checked out good on the survey, but I'm doing a complete service from plugs, filters, fluids, water pumps, anodes, etc. just as a starting point for my maintenance log.
As I mentioned, I'll be adding an auto pilot for the off shore runs for Albacore. The factory hydraulic steering system is uflex connected to twin 150 Yamaha's. I've done some research and since the new electronics are Simrad, I'm looking hard at the Simrad AP44 VRF Medium Capacity Pack. The GO 12 Chart plotter software will operate this system, so that's a plus. I'd love to hear from anyone who has installed a Simrad to Uflex autopilot in their Sailfish.

Welcome aboard Gary. We do have boats like yours here in the north east. Over the years there's been a lot of knowledge shared about that boat I'm sure it will be helpful to you.Best of luck with your new rig.

I've installed a Simrad AP with a Teleflex helm. Not much if any difference in the installation. Yours is just a newer updated model. I think mine is the AP24 head unit. It's pretty easy to install and all plug and play other than making up the correct size hydraulic hoses.
The AP is the best option on my boat.
