I know some claim before every trip out on the boat which I find a bit extreme. Now I could see the day before a big offshore trip but everytime you use the boat?
I will admit I am guilty of not doing it enough, in fact I went the entire season last year without doing it. Hell, I dont check the oil in my car either.
I think i am going to do it today though.

I would check before a big trip like a Bahamas run. But typically I would check it right after I changed the oil and again about 100 hours later lol

I am about 30 hrs in since I changed it. I just checked it and the good news is I am not low, in fact it is probably a little high due to me adding a hair more when I changed the oil earlier this year. It's about 2/3 up the stick.

I never check during the season, I will change oil at 100 hrs. These motors have a low oil sensor they should shut down before any damage. It's such a PITA to check while sitting in the water. And besides 9 seasons on the boat and never had oil low on the dip stick.

My F-225 seams to use or loose oil, so I check mine before I make a long off shore trip. Other then that I roll and depend the low level/pressure sensor. I do keep a gallon on my the boat though to be safe. Rag’s
