Hi all,
New to the site... currently run a 1976 Aquasport 222 w/E-Tec 150hp... love the rig... it's perfect for my inshore boating and fishing south of Cape Cod... E-Tec has been flawless for the first 600hrs, but the hull is old and tired. My original thought was to restore the hull and keep loving the rig... now, my energy for the rebuild/restore is waning...
In my search to find a hull/motor to replace the 222/E-Tec 150 combo, I'm leaning toward a Sailfish 206. I'm finding that they're not that common. Trying to research the hull, I'm having trouble determining when they were last made... my biggest deterrent thus far is the relatively narrow beam (7'8"... I think)
I also see a Sailfish 208 on websites, but have never seen one or seen one for sale... unicorn?
There are several 206's for sale currently that have 350/500 hrs on Yamaha 150 motors that I can get for 15-16K with trailer... hoping to get opinions on the 206 in general and if 15-16k is a reasonable price.
Thanks!!

Welcome!
The 208 is the same hull as the 206, popped from a Secraft mold. Excellent riding hull. There's a 2015 for sale on Yacht world I believe.

Welcome aboard. Nothing against the 206 or 208 but if you currently run a 222 you should really consider the 218. It is usually thought by many to be the best riding boat in its class!! Just food for thought. Rag’s

Welcome! My dad had a 1978 222 Aquasport. Originally had a 150 but he reported with a Johnson 200 in the early 80's. I spent many hours behind the wheel growing up and many more washing it. Fun boat. Good luck with your search.

Welcome.
I agree with Rags. Look at the 218. Seems like there is alot more of those around.

I agree with Rags too, I would not recommend going down in size by 2 feet when getting the new rig.

I think a 206 might be a pretty rare and old model. This thread is the first time I've heard the model number mentioned here.

Hey everyone,
Thanks so much for all the advice and opinions... just what I was hoping for. Here's my take on it all:
- I'm not a fan of the 218 layout... IMHO the "reverse transom" makes the useable deck space about the same size as the 206, so why run a bigger more costly hull... I'm also hoping to keep the power as small as I can... I'm not a go fast guy... in fact, I look at the slowest economical planing speed of the hull/motor and will probably run it that way. The GPH and MPG numbers for both hulls are kinda similar, but the 206 planes earlier at lower rpm's and uses less gas with a 150 vs a 200... less cost, less fuel = less concern about how many hours I run the boat each summer... OK, I'll say it, I'm cheap. I'm more about spending time and making memories on the boat vs setting any speed records with it...
I've got a surveyor taking a look at the 206 tomorrow... hoping it's as nice as the sellers says... I know, I know... fingers crossed.
Thanks again for all your help, I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Funny you say that... didn't sleep much last nigh... surveyor is driving to the boat as I type... really hope it works out. Not just cause I spent the money on the survey, but I'm convinced that this boat will suit my needs really well...

Well... you know how when you get to the hotel, it doesn't look as good as the brochure... no deal on the 2007 206. The survey revealed some items that needed to be addressed and would cost money, I made a reasonable offer and it wasn't accepted.... the cool part is that the surveyor allowed me to pay 1/2 price after he sent me his detailed photos and a verbal analysis.... so, less pain there. So still looking for a 206 or 208... fingers still crossed! Thanks again for all the input.
