Left late this morning with the family and boat in tow. Lots of prep and packing.
Made it to Elizabeth City NC before dinner. Let the kids swim for a bit at the hotel pool, then grabbed some Mexican at the joint next door.
2nd and final leg to Ocracoke tomorrow morning. Past Oregon Inlet, past Haterass, board a ferry to the island.
I will say the Tundra did great pulling the boat again. I installed new Bilstein 5100 shocks in the rear a month ago and they made a big difference. The ride is just so much more compliant towing or not. A great upgrade.
Got about 3 hrs tomorrow, trying to beat the crowds into the OBX.

Sounds like a good time with the family. Enjoy and be careful! I too added 5100s to the corners on my Tundra recently. Opted for the second notch on the front and was able to get factory alignment specs with slightly oversized KO2 tires. I noticed an improvement, but that is compared to stock Bilsteins with 80k miles.

Thanks guys. Finally made it to Ocracoke today. Beautiful weather. All unpacked and ready to get some grub. Going to drop the boat in tomorrow. Looks like I'm going to miss one of the best days to run offshore tomorrow too. 3' at 11 seconds and 6 knot winds. There is a nice rip and temp break just to the north off Haterass. I might take my 2 boys out to an AR to jig for some AJs if I can manage to get the boat boat in early enough. The winds are supposed to kick up Monday- Thurs.

Mahi have pushed in close to the beach, lots of bill bill fish being caught and yellowfin can still be found in the breaks. That hurricane stirred things up a bit.

Beautiful day, dunked the boat and ran out of the inlet on a shake down, trolled down the beach for Spanish for a bit later in the afternoon with no love. Saw a few kings airing it out, some Spanish in the mix.
I tried to post some pics but this cheap ass site has size limitations, will need to shrink them. Great weather, but it's suppose to blow the rest of the week.

I'm terrible at keeping a journal. This was the final leg....
Well we just got home, it was a looonggg car ride made worse by flooding andbnb ocean wash over of highway 12, the only 2 lane road in and out of the lower outter banks.
It was a nice trip with the family. The first week the wind didnt stop, the 2nd week was much of the same except it rained a lot, then it rained some more.
Did very little fishing and never made it to the stream.
Friends came down and rented the 2nd week we were there. Then some neighbor friends and their kids who were vacationing in Emerald Isle took the ferry over and stayed one night with us.
Good times had by all, but I'm glad to be home and oddly enough so are our kids. Our 5 yr old was hugging the wall in the foyer after busting through the front door.

Glad you made it home safely. Sorry you didn't get to fish as much as you would like to. Maybe next time.
