If Sailfish Boats asked, what changes would you like to see???
Me? 2660/270, I would like to see the angle of the liner rake mid ship changed to a lesser degree and if that's not possible due to the angle of the hull, combing pads run fire and aft.
I would also like to a coffin box option, like what Sea Hunt did.
Lastly, I would like a slight larger strake towards the bow and the chines reversed. This may impact the ride though, and this hull really does ride nicely.
I love, LOVE the console design on the 2660, the 270 not so much. I like the wide unobstructed face that gives the owner the freedom to install whatever electronics they one in just about any configuration. It seems the newer boat consoles have these funky angles, factory mounted gauges etc, all of which impedes on your ability to mount various displays.

I agree Chris that the new consoles are not as nice as the older ones. I love the console and storage on my 2860. The first thing that I would love to see is a coffin box or centerline fish box forward in place of the forward seating. I don't think an in deck fish box is possible with the 2 piece hull, but a coffin box would rock. The second thing I would like is a lot more insulation in the fish boxes.

Good points on the insulation, you can add that to my list.
Oh the other thing, I would like to see an in floor fish box aft on the 2660/270 like the 2860 has. No reason that I can see they cant do that unless the 200 gallon tank takes up too much room. In which case give me a 175 gallon tank and 2 in floor fish boxes. 175 gallons would still provide tons of range esp F150s.

Chris, I love the two in deck boxes aft. I really love it when they are both full of dead fish. I think Sailfish builds a great boat, but instead of tweaking the models they have to make them better, they tend to spend too much energy coming out with new models. They have hit a home run with their dual consoles, but I wish they would upgrade some existing models.

Agree Richard. Not sure I understand the rationale behind the new dash/console design.
Seriously 200 gallons of fuel on my boat is A LOT, they could scale that back and make more infloor storage/fish boxes.
A coffin box/seat up front. Heck hmmm I could do without the fore infloor box and go with a coffin and 2 in floor boxes aft. Would come out way ahead on storage.

Dual consoles could use a few things too. If you've read the 'other' forum, you know I'm looking for help with the hardtop to console wiring. I know it's never easy. On my Albemarle I said more than a few unkind words, but I could at least see where things should go. Due to the starboard pull down seat (wife thought we needed more seats) I have no idea how to get access without major effort. If they'd used the forward starboard hardtop support instead of the rear support everything would drop down behind the console instead of having to be run aft from the hardtop, then forward to the console.
It's got enough fish boxes, but I still carry a tuna bag. The largest box is 51 inches long, but is fairly narrow and not very deep. Probably handle most trips, but if we catch our limit or get larger tuna I'd have to use the bag. Better if the box was a bit larger.
Probably have a few more ideas once I get over 10 hours on the boat. Things just haven't been favorable for me getting out yet. I will say compared to my 21 foot Robalo this is a heck of a boat.

hookedup - At top where you started to fish your wire down, was there a very small gauge of wire coiled up? Sailfish used to leave wire pulls in place for installers to use. They also used to leave pulls in the transom for pulling wires and stuff up to the console.

On my 2004, 236 I would say tighten up the wiring!! I also agree with less liner angle mid ship and coming pads that went further forward. But I think over she is a pretty well thought out little boat. Oh and a good place to put a pair of 10” subs. Rag’s

Team Ruby: Cannot see anything from the small hole in the pipe (hardtop support). I talked to someone who did major work on a hardtop and he suggested I use the tape pull (there is one pull in the hardtop to the console). I plan to use that for the radar, and if I were to go that route I'd have to drill another hole in the cable trough and get an antenna cable extender (plus the obvious addition of a new pull). I've run the cable forward and tomorrow I plan to drill into where the starboard forward support is attached. I think I've got the cable that far and it if it works, it is the best way to run it. Find out tomorrow.

Just a note if I understand you correctly, when you use the factory installed pull or even one that you run yourself always attach another line to it, so that you can pull it back to where it was originally. That way you'll always have a wire pull available should you need it.

I also hate the inside rake angle from the center console forward. Makes fishing very awkward only option is to stand up on the platform in the bow. too much dead space in that area that could open up the walking space.

Not sure if the design is different on other, or newer, models... but my '05 218CC NEEDS BETTER SCUPPERS!!! Just relocating the drain inlet 90°, from the bulkhead wall to the deck, would greatly improve performance.

Fin uses a similar strategy, we would know it more commonly as "running hard aground". It works well, you just have to get used to the abrupt stops...
