Corvette owners and Jeep owners have this unwritten but national rule they all do the little finger flick wave to each other on the road? Why not Corollas? Or F150s

It happens among Subaru WRX owners as well. At least, down here in FL where they're not as common.

Just interesting to me as to which vehicles do it and how it gets started
I drive my wife’s Jeep And never wave. She says I’m wrecking it locally for her

Jeeps are cool for sure. 👍 Just be sure to give the wave when passing another Jeep.

If I recall the story correctly the Corvette was touted as America's number 1 sportscar back in the 50's and 60's. Corvette drivers originally held up one finger to signify #1, but that gesture was frequently misinterpreted, so it was changed to the hand wave.

Harley riders also do the same sh!t. They only wave to other Harley's bikers. You never see them wave to someone riding a Jap bike. Now my wife laughs at me because I wave to every boat owner on the water.

I even have the wife trained to wave at other boats and when people don’t wave back (happens sometimes here in FLA) she says things like “there’s a duche bag” or the likes. lol Rag’s

Don't know when the boat waving started. I grew up on the Lynnhaven and Chesapeake Bay. I went out almost daily in the summer on my boat or my dad's. I don't remember but a couple of people waving. Started boating again when my kids were old enough (70s & 80s) and lots of people waved, but not everyone. There was a yacht (about 80 feet) that my kids waved at and a cute girl in a yachting uniform came out on the 3rd deck, waved back and then went back in. The kids were impressed, as was I. I guess by then it had become the polite thing to do.
Now I've taught the grandkids to wave at passing boats. Makes us all part of the boating tribe.

I always thought it was a Jeep and Harley thing. I always wave at other boats too except when someone is fishing in my spot and then I use a different gesture!!
