I'm hemming and hawing on what to do with me SIMRAD structure scan transducer. My transom is nice and clean and I don't think anything was ever mounted on it. I'm thinking of 5200-ing a hunk of 1" starboard above the drain plug and mounting the transducer to it, or mounting it on the bottom of the "V" as I have seen others do. I think I would NOT want to just zip it down to the transom. The block idea would result in no holes and could be removed and cleaned up. Mounting it to the bottom would poke 6-8 holes in the bottom of the hull, but still out of site, so should be out of mind. In either case, I will have to trace the wire up the back of the hull.
What say you? what have you done?

Works great and out of the way. Just have to reverse the image in the software.

Thanks. I think I remember this photo... I'm not sure my bottom has the flat spot like that. What hull do you have? I have a 266. I think I really like that install.
Not so hijack my own thread.... What kind of lights are those?

That's a 218CC. The lights are OceanLED and I really wouldn't recommend them. One lasted a couple of years and had to be replaced. I've heard other problem stories with them also but they do look nice when working.

If you back it to the beach, traditional mounting will let it kick up before things break should you hit bottom. Reverse mount underneath would make me nervous at the beach. But you can always anchor a little further out.

They definitely look cool but I can't imagine that any brand is going to last too long with those elements. I could be wrong though...

Twisted - Now the tricky part - just use stainless 1" screws and silicone? Or would you use 5300 and screws?
