Took my son and his friend, as well as my dad out 25 miles from Surfside. Limited out on snapper and then at the end of the day this cobia swam up to investigate. Pitched him a sardine on a 7' medium action rod with a Baitrunner 4000. Little light, but it was all I had at the ready. Fought him for 15 minutes or so before we could finally bring him into the boat. He was all of 45-50lbs.
After about 10:00, the wind died down even more and it was like glass running in. Epic
.
Also, props to my son's friend. He got seasick and chummed six times. Kid powered through it....I never knew he barfed until him and my son were laughing about it back at the dock.
