And this doesnt include my primary tackle bag and 3 other spinners, spreader bars already on the boat. Life raft, drogue are out of view. My wife says it's excessive... Despite all of the crap I bring, sometimes not using most of it,,, I always seem to forget something. I have started following the mantra that I'd rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. But man oh man does it make packing and unpacking a chore... What say you? Do you all pack for a long trip like a hoarder on a binge?

Well, I only pack for plan A and B. Offshore trolling and bottom fishing, bottom fish and nearshore trolling, nearshore trolling and fishing inshore. Any more combinations and there’s no room for crew! Ok. Exaggerate a little, but there’s always plan C witch is go to the beach.

I feel your pain. I packed way to much for our trip to the keys, but better to have it and not need it.

Man I take way more rods than that , trolling spread=7 Chunking =4 Spinners 2-3 Deep drop 2-3. Depending on trip may have all, often most Have compound bags for spreaderbars, usually take 10-20. 2 bean bags. Often if bite is good extra cooler for ice.
Plus now my kids are using console for cabin on ride, they like it, but can’t throw stuff in there any more.
Btw are you heading east? Or south?

I've had bad luck lugging my bean bags with me losing them on the water or on the road. Fortunately I dont have any deep drop rigs, but hey what's 2 or 3 more rods?! Space is definitely an issue when packing for a family of 5. The pick up is packed to the gills, 3 bikes on the boat, plus all the gear. In years past I actually brought a kayak on the boat along with everything else, what a PIA that was. Heading south, away from the fish down near Hatteras.

This must be the only time of year heading to Hatteras is heading away from the fish. Most of the year it's the place to be.

And I thought I had a lot of fishing rods! Every time my wife asks why I need so many rods I will simply show her this picture!

I run out to the rockpile and in between. May look to run out a bit beyond this year.
Yes I am a subscriber to Dave's Saltwater Central app. Was going to try his fish here map last year but never got the chance to get out.
I'll be in ocracoke so while the point can be productive this time of yr not sure I'll be running that far north.
