Looking into the Smart Rail system. Anyone have any luck? I was coming in from 30 miles out and was drenched coming in. 2-3’ swells that the wind from the south at 10kts really made that random bounce send over my CC. No hiding. Will the rails keep it down when I’m coming down onto a good swell? Or do I say forget it and get Curtains and isonglass?

I feel like that splash that hit the camera is what is the random splash the wind takes and hits me with lol. I looked online and seen they are 91" long. Only thing that concerns me is what if you put them in the wrong spot. Is it worth getting Curtains? Or are they only for the cold air at that point

Members who have put them on swear by them(if you search the forum you will see some threads on them). I experienced the same ride on Sunday, headed south with a south/southeast wind, 3-4 foot seas. Got absolutely soaked the whole way home, not fun. Yes, my SF heavy hull can handle it but man was it wet. Others love their curtains but I will not put those up for a ride here or there and won't keep them up all the time for practical/aesthetic purposes. That being said, I am still doing my research on the curtains.

Curtains are great for these boats. I keep them on all season long here on Long Island. They stay rolled up and when needed just unsnap and roll them down.

Anyone recommend a manufacturer for the curtains or should I "shop local"? Thanks.

Twisted i wouldn't advise buying a generic set of curtain, they wont fit right, will look sloppy and they will flap in the wind like crazy.
For best fitment and satisfaction having them custom made for your boat to your specifications is the way to go.
Shop around, you'll likely find prices all over the map. But very important, if you're shelling out that kind of money make sure you see the work of whomever your thinking of hiring and that you are satisfied with how they did things.

I'd also add that the investment of good quality materials is huge on the end product. I highly recommend a high-visibility window like Strataglass or EZ2SeeClear (or something named like that, I may have the name wrong). Those windows are thicker and can't be rolled up in most cases so there may be some compromises with the design, but for the front especially the added ability to see clearly is key--lower cost vinyl can be rolled but is also harder to see through and doesn't last as long. Also, use of Tenara thread is important as it holds up against UV sun rays better, and in my experience the stitching of canvas fails before the material if you use good canvas like Sunbrella, so get good thread or the work will need to be redone in 5 to 7 years.
