Our red snapper season opened this weekend and our marina held its annual tournament. We had horrible weather Saturday with 6-8 foot seas. We stayed at the dock until noon then snuck out. The seas were laying down but were still 4-6. We managed to boat some good fish. Our 3 fish stringer weighed 54 pounds which was an 18 pound average. Good enough for 4th place after day 1. We also entered the triggerfish category and weighed the only trigger on day 1. Day 2 was much smoother. We ran long and hit all my best spots but couldn’t find any giants. Best day of snapper fishing ever. We probably released 30 snapper over 15 pounds. We ended up in 10th place out of 40 boats. We did win some money with the triggerfish.

Didn't see this until now. Great fishing! Sounds like a lot of fun.
