I was getting some inaccurate readings from my fuel sender. When I say inaccurate, I mean, it said it was 3/4 full with a full tank of gas and 5/8 full with an empty tank of gas... Attachment DeletedI pulled the deck plate over the aft part of the fuel tank an noticed the fuel sender leads were rather corroded. Attachment DeletedTime to get started. This is my standard compliment of electrical working tools. From left to right, wire cutters. They seem over kill, but they do offer a nice clean cut. Ratcheting wire crimpers, and a wire stripper. Attachment DeletedI went with a WEMA fuel sender. The fuel tank is 17" deep, so I went with a 16.5" sender. Attachment DeletedTested the send by manually moving the level up and down and checking the readings.... Dead nutz on. Shrinked down the connections and buttoned everything up. My next choice smaller in size was a 15" and in hindsight, I wish I would have went with that one since the boat's normal attitude is tilted towards aft. So the gauge will never be 100% accurate.... If the level reads at 1/4 tank, it does not necessarily mean that I have 50 gallons left. More like 10-20 gallons since all of that gas will be sitting aft. I'll just have to keep a mental note that 1/2 is my "empty". I still may go with the 15 eventually and when it bottoms out, there would still be 20 or so gallons of reserve.

Hay popeye, make sure you post this on the tread for the Fin-Nor LT 100 reel. Give yourself to win it. Good deal you did it already.

I always wonder about the slosh factor. Except for putting the bow REAL high just before planning my Yammy gauge never changes more then one bar from at rest or any trim of the motor or tabs at speeds from 20+ mph. Mine will run out (empty) before the last bar starts to flash sitting still. I know the gas has to slosh to the back and like you said the sending unit is in the back 1/4. ?? Rag’s

You probably should have measured the one you replaced since the tank manufacturer knows a whole lot more about these things than we do. But good job and glad it worked out.
