I have one of the older boats, a 266 with twin HDPI 200 motors. I think the boat originally came with a fuel management gauge, given the wiring was in place, the fuel flow sensors are there, and a giant 3" hole in the console....
I bought a Fuel Management gauge to add and hooked it up...
I've don't about 6 trip this summer and 3 fuel ups. Unless the marina is ripping me off (highly doubtful), my fuel burn seems to be almost double what the fuel management system is reporting. On my last 2 trips, I ran maybe 100-ish miles total, and I refiled with exactly 80 gallons. My gauge reported 47 gallons burned. So my economy seems to suck, and my monitoring is way off. My fuel gauge was report 3/4 tank at the time of fill up.
Conclusions.... The fuel gauge is barley useful. It sits towards the rear end of the tank and with the attitude of the boat while running, and even at rest, a 1/4 tank means I am nearly empty.
My fuel burn seems to report half of what it is.... Is it possible that one of my fuel senders are not working? How can I tell? Or is there something I have to do with the gauge to get it to read both?
Thanks for reading my ramblings in advance.....

You are reading only one engine. I think you can set it for twins, but I don’t remember how.

I’ve got the square gages, but if you press I think the mode switch, you may see small letters on gauge cycle through P, S, and PS. Port, starboard, both.

Thanks. I will take a look at that. I recall messing with it once and it didn't seem to change... I'm hedging my bets that once of the fuel flow sensors are not working. Once I get that sorted, then I can look at my lousy economy.
