Found these Coast Guard approved offshore life vests today while shopping for material to close my pool at Ocean State Job Lot. $29 each great deal I've wanted them for a while but didn't want to spend $70 a piece . I got the last three.

Those look like they are good quality and will last.
As hot as it gets in Florida, wearing life vests regularly is challenging. Does anyone regularly use say a Type V manual or automatically inflated vest? Is there a problem with the auto inflators when fishing due to splashing, etc. setting them off?

I never wear one,, just to hot for me. My inshore vests are automatically or manual inflating type. I have my son wear this style while aboard. These offshore vests will be on deck when offshore in case of an emergency.

Maysport, since I go out alone a bit, and I go in rough weather, I often wear an auto-inflate PDF. I haven't gotten soaked, but often get splashed and it's never inflated so far. I also have a rough weather coat that is auto-inflate. With that one, I've gotten soaked in the rain and it hasn't gone off, but I don't think there's much of a chance for it to get wet unless it goes in the water.
I'd say mine are pretty good about not inflating in 'normal' situations.

I'd say mine are pretty good about not inflating in 'normal' situations. That's good to know. I have a waist belt that is co2 but manual inflating. I only use it for duck hunting in shallow areas.
The 2 firemen that disappeared out of Port Canaveral has me rethinking vests, EPIRB's and PLB's.

Take it from someone that has gone overboard, wear your pfd at the very least and get a plb especially if you fish alone a lot. You will be very lucky if you get a second chance.

Agreed, especially here in New England in the spring and the fall when the water temperatures get nasty. When fishing alone I have my P.L.B. attached to my belt. I also wear a P.F.D. when water temps drop.

Since I go out alone (yes, PFD with PLB attached) I've been thinking about getting a MOB to cut the engine if I do go overboard. Anyone install one yet?
