So I was filling the boat up this weekend. I unscrewed the Stainless gas cap and it fell into the water as the chain holding it had obviously broke since last filling it up "awesome right" I ran to west marine looking for a replacement and found one close but does not screw down flush. It just screws down flat to the top off the filler neck. Has anybody replaced this or have a link to the right fuel cap? I was going to call Sailfish this week to try to find the manufacture for the cap/fuel filler assembly and hopefully get a part number if no luck here. Thanks in advance.

Gatorman- I had a similar thing happen to me a few years back. I feel like I had gotten my replacement at west marine though, but mine certainly seats as it should. Another place I would try is Gemlux. They provide a lot of the hardware used on Sailfish and I’d be willing to be were the original provider of the gas cap/fixture. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks Andrew886,
You are correct the filler neck and gas cap are made by gemlux. I called them and they said they discontinued them so were no help. Im going to look for a replacement over the winter. If I can find one I plan to go diving for the lost one when the water warms up. It fell in right beside the dock so it couldn't of gone far. Gatorman-

Gatorman- Try using a big magnet on a string, it surely went straight down, nothing good can come of letting it sit in the saltwater for 6 months
