Life has gotten busy so i have not been around in a while to post but i have some time and figured everyone likes fish stories and pictures. Had a pretty good summer. Some sandbar days and some fishing. Attachment DeletedI was doing pretty good getting out atleast a couple times a month for an evening/night snapper trip. My main target was mutton . I have never been very good at bottom fishing so i was trying to get the hang of it. Most nights started with catching live ballyhoo which usually included catching a few yellowtail snapper and some yellow jacks. Then we would head out deep for mutton. Most trips we would catch at lest one sometimes two. I never really found a great spot. An occasional dolphin and blackfin tuna were caught on the flat line while bottom fishing. Attachment DeletedA surprise catch one night was a cubera snapper. Attachment DeletedAttachment DeletedTried for wahoo off miami around the full moons but never got lucky. One trip i came across a log while HST and picked up 10 dolphin. Attachment Deleted

Made it out for day one of lobster mini season. Not nearly as good as last year but had our limit by 9:30am. Decided to skip the second day since the weather was getting pretty rough. Only made one trip to the channel for yellowfin tuna. Ended up with some smaller yellows and black fins. Never found a great school. Attachment DeletedMade an overnight trip to bimini for the mutton spawn and got skunked. We fished hard for them but never found any current. The weather was great though. Attachment DeletedMade a day trip over to bimini for wahoo last month and got skunked. There was a west wind which is notorious for shutting the bite down but i decided to go since it was calm and there are very few winter weather windows to run my boat over. Just got back from an overnight bimini trip this past friday-saturday. The weather forecast was marginal but we decided to give it a go. Lets just say i found the limit on what i am willing to cross in. It was a rough, wet ride. Ended up with one dolphin, 2 snapper and one wahoo. I have also been doing alot of fishing in the canal by the house. Usually get over twice a week after work and school with my daughter. Its getting to the point that she asks to go so thats a good thing. Attachment Deleted

These pics and my son-in-laws pics from his fishing yesterday are driving me nuts. Need to get out and catch some fish. Oh, and you need to do what he did - gave me some yellowfin to eat tonight!

As I sit here counting down the remaining few days before I pull the boat for the year, I am so jealous.

Great update Mike. Glad to hear you had a number of successful trips. I’m hopeful to make a Bimini trip this summer.
