First, let me offer the disclaimer that I am not making any moves soon. I'm just thinking out loud.
I have a 2003 Sailfish 266 with twin HPDI 200's. The boat was a good buy because it needed a few things, but the engines were and still are pretty sound. The plan is to run it a few more years and decide to up-size to a 30-ish, or re-power.
I recently went for a ride on a 2012 27' Sea hunt with Yamaha 150 4 strokes. The boat handled fine loaded for an overnighter with 4 guys. I was impressed by the performance and more impressed with the economy.
If I were to re-power, I had always considered going with either 200 or 225 4 strokes, but these 4-cylinder 4 strokes handled things just fine. Considering Sea Hunt is around the same build tier as a Sailfish, I figure performance should be similar. I'm curious if anyone here has re-powered a 266 or 2660 and what they went with.

Not much difference between 150’s and 200’s. Glen has a point with the 250’s.

I was actually considering the Zukes. Economy is a major factor considering a 250 mile round trip on 200 gallons of fuel. The economy between the 150 and 200 is probably negligible. But what would I gain with a V6 250 other than top end MPH which I will never use?

Lower RPMs faster speed less fuel consumption motor's are not laboring. Running the 250 you'll probably never run higher RPMs than 3500 no need to at that rpm you'll be doing 34,36 miles an hour.
