Got the boat out today, good. One trim tab only works in down direction, bad.
I’ve changed an actuator before so no concerned doing that, but wanted some trouble shooting advice. Last time it was just dead. This time, other side, it will go down, continues to make noise in down direction even though fully deflected. Up, nothing. No noise clicks just dead.
So, quick look in the dark, I think it is just a 2 wire connection to actuator? If so, if I cut and swap wires I should be able to confirm it’s the actuator. Up button would be pushing it down and still working, down would be up and still nothing. Seems that would confirm good switch, good control box, bad actuator. Concur?

I guess voltmeter show + and - 12 v would show the same.

Swap the connectors behind the helm to double check its not the switch.

Good thought but when I went to do that there is just one plug at the switch. Going to have to work this from other end I think. Need to draw this out all day anyway, otherwise C-in-C house will find other things for me to do!

Well, reversing wires got it to retract. Voltmeter at stern says up switch position not generating any voltage. Ohmeter at switch says switch is good. Guess I’ll call lenco.

Bad control box. New units are all in one control box and switch. Supposed to be plug and play but original installer didn’t use the deutsch connectors.

Well that was a PITA. So, for all of you with the old obsolete system which has separate switch and control box. The new all in one switch has an additional wire. It orange with a male bullet connector. It needs to connect to something that is on/off and a hot 12v. Options are at back of ignition switches or back of engine gauges.
On my setup, twin 150’s, I’ve got 4 square command link gauges. The Speed gauge has an extra plug attached to back with 5wires. One is connected red-red. The other 4 have capped male and female bullet connectors. Discussion on phone led me to one that was supposed to be yellow, but could have been white....it didn’t work. Voltmeter found it had no volts. Voltmeter to other connectors only found one with power. Happened to be the only other female bullet connector. I think it was black with red stripe. Anyway it worked.
Cutting all those deutsch connectors off the new switch was a bit painful.
Cutting the hole open to fit new switch took forever due to not having the right tool to cut that metal.
But it is done, also an upgrade as I have the position led indicators and auto retract when you turn off ignition switches.

It needs to connect to something that is on/off and a hot 12v. Options are at back of ignition switches or back of engine gauges. That is just the auto retract. You hook it up to your ignition system so when you turn off your motors, they will automagically retract back. Otherwise, they work as intended. I never got around to hooking mine up because I back in when I return and naturally I retract the tabs manually to perform that maneuver.
