I’m hearing that Sailfish has made some changes to the new 270’s. A change in the chine that is supposed to make for a dryer ride and added a second rear fish box. With boat shows starting soon, check this out and let us know.

Wow, certainly looks like a different deck and a slightly different hull, at least at the stern of the boat. I am going to the Miami Boat show this weekend. I'll check it out and if there is one in the water, I'll ask to go out on it.

A few quick thoughts. Added two in deck fish boxes in stern, added a side entry door, reversed the location on the Bain well on transom and added black acrylic on the dash. Also looks like they added all the extra seating in the cockpit. I hope the seating is optional.
When someone sees this up close, take some photos and give us your thoughts.

It has to be a new hull. At 9’1” it’s wider than the 270 now. I would bet it is much drier now also.

I looked around it some at the boat show yesterday. Overall.......not too impressed. All of the lockers are really small. The forward seating storage is tiny. The addition of the retracting headrest and the open center in the bow really reduces the space. The two aft outboard in deck lockers are not very deep. They would be ok for a fish box but you are not putting anything fat or tall in them. I also don’t like how they are hinged on the short length instead of the long length. It makes it a really tall hatch when open. On the lower section of the dash they have some fabric/vinyl trim that doesn’t look like it will last. In the aft corners there is a dive door (port) and a flip down seat (starboard). These eliminate the toe kick area in the aft corners. IMO, those are the two most important areas to have the toe kick when fishing.
The looks with the ‘sharper’ corners instead of the big rounded corners looks good (IMO). The electronic access inside the console is really good and the wiring looked pretty decent. The bilge access with the flip up hatch is good. I wish you could get it without the rear flip down seat but that’s not an option. The aft recessed toe kick runs further forward which is nice. It gives more interior space. The covering board goes up to the console when it used to go to the leaning post. The recessed t-top legs into the console are nice.
Overall I think this is a step towards a sandbar boat then a fishing boat.
The sales rep asked what I thought of the new boat so I told him my honest opinion. I don’t think he really liked it.

I second what Mikey said. They are definitely redesigning the boats for a family friendly boat. The sales guys did not know anything technical, but the show price is $168,052, with twin F200s. I spoke to a Sailfish representative and he was somewhat knowledgeable. They added 1" to the width not to improve the ride or prevent water splash, but to reinforce the hull due to the side door. Below the waterline the hull is exactly the same as the 270. Above the waterline there is a 1/2" extra flare on each side from mid point to stern. The front of the boat is exactly the same as the 270.
Like Mikey said, the glued on vinyl on the dash is hideous, and I am not sure why they chose to hinge the new in-deck boxes as they did. Access to the bilge is awesome, via a swing up door. The integration of the t-top with the center console is also really nice. Stern space seems very tight. More than two people fighting fish is not possible.
There is a switch on the dash that says fish box macerator. When I activated the switch, no noise came out of any of the fish boxes. Neither the Sailfish guy or the sales guys knew which one of the fish boxes had the macerator. They though that it might be for the in-deck fish boxes. I asked them how does one replace or service the macerator pumps, as there is no clear access, and they suggested from the bilge. The front in-deck box is a lot smaller. I did not see the waste tank in front. Nobody know exactly where the waste tank is located now. In their defense they said that they have not had a chance to spend time on the boat as it was just finished a week ago.
They were really pushing the 290CC. They were offering it for $182K with twin F300's. The mentioned that the 290 is undergoing a redesign, and that when it comes out it will be north of $200K.

Boat show price 169 K,, ouch add taxes and a good electronic package, now your looking at 200k that's ludicrous they're going to price themselves right out of the market.

Here were the prices I saw. sorry they are upside down. Doing this from my phone and I’m not sure how to rotate them. I also forgot to mention that the new 272 is rated at a maximum 400hp. That’s probably fine for that boat. The horsepower people are putting on boats now is ridiculous (in a good way). reelkul - glad to hear I wasn’t the only one who thought some of those things. That vinyl and glove box thing in the dash are horrible. That’s some good info on the hull changes.
